1st Time in Sri Lanka Modern Physics Paradoxes for A/L Students

I am always inspired to do something new for the G.C.E Advanced Level student community as if we can, ignite a spark in them to innovate, to be open minded and inspire them to follow their dreams with a proper strategy Sri Lanka will become a much more better place.

Therefore Modern Physics Paradoxes event which was held on the 15th of December at the Shakthi Institute, Bambalapitiya (Entrance Free) which had over 200+ students  (All seats Booked) was to ignite a spark towards Physics and to motivate them to study higher levels in Physics.

Modern Physics Paradoxes for Advanced Level Students became a milestone in my 15 years of Teaching career as well, since it became the Sri Lanka’s 1st event to educate Advanced Level students on Higher levels of Physics.

What we Discussed

The event was scheduled for 3 hours to discuss the birds eye view of advanced  concepts and paradoxes in Physics. For instance topics such as Quantum Mechanics, Special and General Theory of Relativity, Black Holes and Worm Holes, Space Time Curvature, Time Travel and much more.

These topics were discussed by past students of mine who are currently in research fields, PhD reading students and also undergraduates who are specializing in Physics.

  • Ruwandi Fernando who is reading for MPhil / PhD program in Physics and currently working as a Technology Entrepreneur in MAS Holdings shared thoughts mainly on Relativistic Mass.
  • Ashan Fernando who is a Physics Special Degree graduate at University of Kelaniya & currently working as a demonstrator at the respective University, shared thoughts mainly on Standard model, Fundamental Particles and Basic Forces.
  • Channa Hatharasinghe who is an Undergraduate at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura currently specializing in Physics, shared thoughts and a practical demonstration on Special Relativity and Time Dilation.
  • Rayantha Sinnathamby is an Engineering Student from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) shared thoughts on General Relativity.

Student Feedback

I was able to witness this amazing enthusiasm from the Student end, because within 2 days releasing the notice to register for the event the seats were fully booked. In total we exceeded over 500 student registrations but unfortunately we were only able to accommodate a maximum of 200 students.

At the end of the event we were able to finally achieve our objective, the objective to ignite the spark towards Higher Levels in Physics.

Also there was a special request from the Students to do a 2nd event on Modern Physics Paradoxes.

On the other hand I would also thank APEX institute for partnering with Modern Physics Paradoxes event and for giving the maximum support in making this event a success.

On a special note I would like to invite all of you to keep in touch with us, further information about the next few events would be shared with you as soon as possible.

Have a great Day !
